Job Description

As an Communications Specialist at Hot Paper Lantern, this is what we expect:

Responsibilities

  • Flexibility in Adaptive Roles: Fluctuates in role and responsibility based on each project/account team needs and deliverable; supports a wide range of communications activity, including social media and traditional media relations work; plays supporting role in other discipline areas as needed, including Analytics, Marketing, Content and Social Strategy.
  • Communications Industry Expertise: Maintains ongoing understanding of the changing role of communications and actively contributes POV through idea generation, recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
  • Social Media Savvy: Plays a community management role in social media across a variety of platforms and develops superior content for those platforms; has understanding of core social media platforms and how best to leverage each; may contribute to paid social programs.
  • Media Relations: Demonstrates solid media relations skills and consistently delivers results; builds relationships with relevant reporters in their industries.
  • Content Development: Demonstrates excellence across all written materials; executes on a variety of writing assignments that span across Hot Paper Lantern’s different disciplines.
  • Client Relations: Acts as client counselor as needed-whether on a media call, client status call or other meetings/interactions.
  • Critical-thinking skills: Connects the dots between client requests/goals and how to achieve those goals; analyzes information and succinctly captures the essence in memos and other documents; able to deliver compelling research documents.
  • Brand Ambassador: Represents the agency well in client, new business and marketing interactions; contributes ideas and knowledge to the agency with an eye on continuous improvement.
  • Developing Skills: Manages up to deliver and request feedback; honing organizational and task management skills, and beginning to mentor/delegate depending on account/project role; may begin managing small projects and/or accounts as gains experience; gaining skill to grow into next phase of career based on skill and interest (e.g. Account Lead, Communications Lead, Content Lead, etc.)


Required Skills / Experience

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Agency experience required
  • BA or equivalent experience in related field (i.e. communications, public relations, marketing communications)
  • Highly organized and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and team-oriented mindset

Salary range: $64,000-$70,000
